Are You in the Church Life?

I met a woman who was helping a neighbor move. She brought some leftover ice cream to my door. When I opened the door it was like looking at my mother, who had died 4 1/2 years earlier. I thought it strange that she would come right in and ask where my freezer was. She put the ice cream away and said, “Oh you have small ones, I have teenagers who babysit.” Wow! I called her later that evening. She didn't tell me that her daughters already had babysitting jobs. She herself came to sit for me with her 4th grader and 6th grader and two of her neighbor's kids to play with mine, who were about the same age. I was so awed by her, so happy to be around her. She was carrying a black book in her hand. I asked her if she read the Bible. She said, “Yes I do.” I asked if she would read with me, having never read it on my own because I couldn't. I never could read very well. As I was leaving the house, her son, Johnny, asked if I was in the church life. I thought no...but I wanted to be. This sister and I grew so close in the Lord. I wanted to be her shadow. She taught me how to read out loud and to pray-read. I learned after her death that she was an English professor and could speak 6 languages. I never knew her in this way, but rather as a gentle spirit who expressed Christ. At our third meeting together I was born again. She explained the Triune God and I was busting to tell her I wanted this Jesus Christ as my life. If you wonder how He could be your life ask Him to be real to you, and read the Bible. Here are some verses to get you started: John 16:14; 15:16, 26, and Matthew 21:22.
